Maldron Hotels are delighted to be one of the very proud sponsors and main accommodation provider for the Rose of Tralee International Festival.
For those of you who don’t know, The Rose of Tralee is one of Ireland most iconic festivals which takes place during August each year. Now heading for its 56th year, the festival has grown from 5 Roses taking part in 1959 to 32 Roses today. These 32 Roses are all of Irish descent and have been selected from regions near and far including; New Zealand, Sydney, Toronto, Southern California, Texas, Luxemburg, Scotland and of course Kerry, to name but a few. The 32 Roses were chosen from a group of 70 hopefuls who took part in the final selection process in Portlaoise in June. These 70 lucky ladies were chosen from hundreds who took part in selection processes around the world.
But it’s not all about the Roses, there is a long weekend packed full of events for the young and not so young who visit Tralee during the festival. There are street carnivals, live music and concerts, markets, fashion shows, a funfair, a circus and fireworks to name but a few. One of the highlights of the festival is the International Rose Parade, over 50,000 people watch this each year.
The festival events take place throughout the town including the most famous location of all - The Dome. The Dome can seat up to 2,000 people and is also home to the televised show which is presented by Dáithí Ó Sé.
If you wish to book accommodation over the festival Fels Point Hotel is ideally located just steps away from The Dome – the hub of all the action.
